Khujista Akhtar Banu Suhrawardiyya (also spelled as Khujastha Akhtar Banu) popularly known as Suhrawardy Begum was a late 19th century writer, Bengali socialite, educationist and a social reformer. Khujista was the first Indian woman to pass the Senior Cambridge examinations, in the year 1887.
In 1888, Zahid married Khujista Akhtar Banu (c.1874–1919), the daughter of educationist Ubaidullah Al Ubaidi Suhrawardy, Zahid's uncle. Their children included linguist Hasan Shaheed Suhrawardy (1890–1965) and Prime Minister of Pakistan, Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy (1892–1963).

29 mar 2021 · Her paternal aunt Khujista Akhtar Banu Suhrawardy was a reformist author and educationist; her cousin Husain Shahid Suhrawardy was premier of Bengal in the mid-1940s and prime minister of Pakistan in 1956–57.

In the light of these discourses, the paper argues that polygyny, influenced by modern sensibilities of reform and social change, underwent different interpretations during the colonial period.
