Awake is an album by the English musician John Wesley Harding, released in 1998. Harding deemed the sound "gangsta folk." He supported the album with a North American tour that included shows with Steve Wynn.

1998’s Awake - the second collaboration with Chris von Sneidern - was perhaps the most daring album of Harding’s career: an "experiment in Gangsta Folk". Also featuring Scott McCaughey, The Young Fresh Fellows, Kelly Hogan and Chuck Prophet, this is Wes at his very best.
This line-up consisted of Tucker, Buck, former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, Minus 5 and Young Fresh Fellows multi-instrumentalist and singer Scott McCaughey, Fastbacks and Young Fresh Fellows guitarist Kurt Bloch, and Ministry drummer Bill Rieflin.
