Tru Dawgs peaked at #67 on the Billboard 200 and #15 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and was the last album he made before he was jailed for murder. The album also featured a large amount of No Limit Records alumni including Master P, Silkk the Shocker, Mac, Snoop Dogg, Mia X and Soulja Slim .

After changing his name to Silkk the Shocker, he went on to appear on numerous albums from TRU's Tru 2 da Game, Mia X's Unlady Like, and Mystikal's Unpredictable. He used the Shocker alias on a few No Limit albums in 1997.
1 gen 1996 · Album review. Silkk had worked with a number of gangsta rappers -- including Down South Hustlers, Tru, West Coast Bad Boys, and Master P -- before releasing his debut album, Shocker. Perhaps he should have continued his apprenticeship a little longer, because Shocker is an unfocused, uncaring slice of West Coast gangsta rap.
