Asim ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab (Arabic: عَاصِم بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنُ الْخَطَّاب, romanized: ʿĀṣim ibn ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb; c. 628 –c. 689) was the son of Jamila bint Thabit and Umar ibn al-Khattab, the second Rashidun caliph. Asim was also a famous hadith scholar.
He was a companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and became the second Caliph ( r. 634–644) following the death of Abu Bakr, the first Caliph. Many of Umar's relatives of the same generation were also Sahaba and his daughter Hafsa bint Umar was a Mother of the Believers. His sons were also important Sahaba.
Biographie. Asim ibn Umar était le fils d'Umar ibn al-khattab, un compagnon très proche du prophète Mahomet, et de Jamila, une des premières converties à l'Islam à Médine 1. Asim avait un frère qui avait combattu à Badr et un demi-frère maternel, issu du second mariage de sa mère.

'Asim was born two years before the Prophet's death (i.e., in 8 A.H.) and when he was four years old, his mother litigated over him with her ex-husband, 'Umar, before the then caliph, Abu Bakr.
