The Band è stato un gruppo rock canadese-statunitense, formatosi nel 1967 a Toronto e scioltosi nel 1976 per poi riformarsi nel 1983 fino al 1999. I componenti, tutti polistrumentisti di grande levatura, erano: Robbie Robertson; Richard Manuel; Garth Hudson; Rick Danko e Levon Helm.
The Band combined elements of Americana, folk, rock, jazz, country, influencing musicians such as George Harrison, Elton John, the Grateful Dead, Eric Clapton and Wilco. Between 1958 and 1963, the group was known as the Hawks, a backing band for rockabilly singer Ronnie Hawkins.
