I'm Not Me is the second spin-off project by Mick Fleetwood, released June 24th 1983 and credited to Mick Fleetwood's Zoo.

The line-up featured future Fleetwood Mac member Billy Burnette on guitar and vocals as well as bassist/vocalist/keyboardist George Hawkins who had played on Fleetwood's previous work The Visitor and would work on numerous other solo projects by Fleetwood Mac members. The quartet was completed by guitarist/vocalist Steve Ross. Besides Fleetwood, all members contributed original material to the album. Burnette supplied the title track which he later covered on his 1985 solo album Try Me.

Covers included You Might Need Somebody which had been a hit for Randy Crawford in 1981 and Tear it Up by Johnny Burnette and the Rock 'n' Roll Trio in which Burnette's father and uncle had been members. The opening track, Angel Come Home was co-written by The Beach Boys' Carl Wilson and featured on that group's L. A. (Light Album) in 1978. Just Because had been the first single release by its composer Lloyd Price, writer of the Elvis Presley hit Lawdy Miss Clawdy.

Fleetwood Mac members Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham also guested, the latter performing his own song I Want You Back co-written with Steve Ross, although aside from this it is not specified which tracks they appear on. The album was co-produced by Fleetwood and longstanding Fleetwood Mac/Lindsey Buckingham co-producer Richard Dashut.
