Charlotte Hall Military Academy, located at Charlotte Hall, Maryland, was established as Charlotte Hall School in 1774 by Queen Charlotte to provide for the liberal and pious education of youth to better fit them for the discharge of their duties for the British Empire.

Charlotte Hall School became a military academy in 1852, and remained so until 1974 when the school opened its doors to females and the military program became optional. Although Charlotte Hall has remained a relatively small institution, its archives show a varied and interesting history.

Charlotte Hall Military Academy, located at Charlotte Hall, Maryland, was established as Charlotte Hall School in 1774 by Queen Charlotte to provide for the liberal and pious education of youth to better fit them for the discharge of their duties for the British Empire.
It includes 13 recorded buildings and sites of historic and/or architectural interest as well as the main campus of the Charlotte Hall Military Academy. [2] It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
