Book of Numbers is a 1973 American crime film directed by and starring Raymond St. Jacques. It was produced by AVCO Embassy Pictures, and is the story of two black waiters who team up in El Dorado, Arkansas to run a numbers racket among the poor and working class black community in the 1930s.

Raymond St. Jacques’ “Book of Numbers” is an easygoing period comedy about the numbers game, punctuated by a not excessive amount of violence, and ending with a moral which, if it isn’t exactly uplifting, is no doubt true.
An ambitious period piece about the black community and their struggle with racial issues which suffers hard from its tonal shifts. Part comedy, part drama, part gangster movie BOOK OF NUMBERS is an uneven work starring and directed by famous genre actor Raymond St. Jacques.

With zero luck making money as waiters, Blueboy and Dave decide to set up a numbers racket in their rural Arkansas town. But when their new enterprise starts to take off, a local crime boss, unhappy about the competition, resolves to shut them down.
