Circles was being worked on by Miller before his death in September 2018 and was created as a companion piece to his fifth studio album, Swimming (2018). Production was completed by Jon Brion . Circles was supported by two singles: "Good News" and "Blue World".

Sfondo. Al momento della sua morte, il 7 settembre 2018, Miller era coinvolto nel processo di registrazione di Circles. Doveva essere un album correlato a Swimming (2018), con "due stili diversi che si completano a vicenda, come un cerchio" e il concetto di " swimming in circles " (nuotare in cerchio).
Swimming In Circles collects Miller's two final studio albums, which were conceived by the late artist as companion albums, into one deluxe presentation. In conjunction with the release of Swimming In Circles, his estate is also sharing previously unseen studio footage of the Swimming and Circles sessions which can be viewed here.
