Laura Jane Sandys CBE (/ s æ n d z /; born 5 June 1964) is a former chair of the European Movement UK, and a British Conservative Party politician, who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for South Thanet between 2010 and 2015.
A Business Entrepreneur and Policy Innovator who uses ideas to build commercial value and shape new thinking. She is a leading advocate of building a more productive and efficient economy, a promoter of greater demand production policies placing consumers at the heart of markets, and an innovator in food policy.
Laura Sandys runs a consultancy firm, Challenging Ideas, advising on new business models and innovative public policy solutions across the energy, food and resources sectors. Laura is Deputy Chair of the Food Standards Agency and runs the 21st Century Energy Regulatory Commission with Imperial College and the Energy Systems Catapult.
