Martin Ash (8 February 1942 – 27 September 2018) was a British performer, percussionist, artist and art lecturer better known to many by his stage name Sam Spoons, the percussionist of Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band.

By December 1967, bassist Vernon Dudley Bowhay-Nowell and drummer Sam Spoons had been summarily fired from the band.

Andy's Tribute to SAM SPOONS (Martin Ash) In his latter years Sam always looked far older than he was, so it is even more shocking that he has left us so soon. He passed away on 27th September, after a courageous and ultimately unsuccessful battle with cancer.
