Jean-Baptiste Berthier (1721–1804) was an officer (Lieutenant-Colonel) in the French Corps of Topographical Engineers during the reigns of Louis XV and Louis XVI.

21 mag 2018 · - the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Jean-Baptiste Berthier, professed priest of the Institute of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette; founder of the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Holy Family; born in Châtonnay, France on 24 February 1840 and died in Grave, Netherlands, on 16 October 1908;
Berthier made his great impact through his 36 ascetical and theological works, the dominating theme of which is that sanctity is possible in any walk of life through imitation of the Holy Family and constant fidelity to the duties of one's state.
Fact file. Born Versailles, 20 November, 1753, died Bamberg (Bavaria), 1 June 1815. ‘Fils naturel et légitime' of an ancien régime noble, Jean-Baptiste Berthier, an engineer and geometer. Married Elisabeth of Bavaria in 1808. Trained at the Ecole du Génie d'Auxerre military engineers college.
