Evans is the only junior college athlete to captain state championship teams in two different sports in the same school year.
Pasadena City College was founded in 1924 as Pasadena Junior College. From 1928 to 1953, it operated as a four-year junior college, combining the last two years of high school with the first two years of college.
In 1928, Pasadena High School and Pasadena Junior College merged into a four-year junior college with grades 11 to 14 inclusive. By 1946, increased enrollment justified the establishment of a second four-year junior college—John Muir.
