Volti San Francisco gives us a hearing of five contemporary choral works of interest on their CD This is What Happened (Innova 964). The music covers a spectrum from high modern event worlds to the modern new tonality.
On This Is What Happened, released January 20, 2017 on the innova label, we invited five of our favorite composers to write something for us, and — this is what happened. All music on this CD was commissioned and premiered by Volti.
Volti is a 16- to 24-person professional vocal ensemble based in San Francisco, focused on the commissioning and performance of new music. In 2018, Volti became the first vocal group ever to have been awarded the Chorus America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming seven times. [1]
