The Sammy Davis Jr. Show is a 1966 studio album by Sammy Davis Jr., released to coincide with his television show of the same name. The album is collated from five studio sessions from 1961 to 1966. "We Open in Venice" had previously appeared on Reprise Musical Repertory Theatre (1963).
In 1966, he had his own TV variety show, titled The Sammy Davis Jr. Show. While Davis's career slowed in the late 1960s, his biggest hit, " The Candy Man ", reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in June 1972, and he became a star in Las Vegas, earning him the nickname "Mister Show Business".
Track listing. Release notes. This album received an official reissue by Collector’s Choice in the US. It is also readily available for download and on streaming platforms. The Sammy Davis, Jr. Show premiered on NBC in 1966. Despite all appearances, this is not a ‘soundtrack’ album. It does contain several studio gems, though!
