John David Souther (born November 2, 1945) is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He has written and co-written songs recorded by Linda Ronstadt and Eagles. Souther is known for his songwriting abilities, especially in the field of country rock.
He told Souther he could speed things up by putting Chris Hillman (Byrds, Flying Burrito Bros), Richie Furay (Buffalo Springfield, Poco) and Souther together in front of great session players, including drummer Jim Gordon (Traffic, Derek and the Dominoes, Delaney & Bonnie.)
