Appartenente alla celebre dinastia dei Brueghel (era figlio di Jan il Giovane e nipote di Jan Brueghel dei Velluti; il suo bisnonno era il celebre Pieter Bruegel il Vecchio), Abraham Brueghel trascorse, al contrario dei suoi familiari, quasi tutta la vita in Italia, dove giunse nel 1649.

Abraham Brueghel. Pittore, 1631-1697. Figlio del pittore Jan Brueghel il Giovane, Abraham svolge il suo primo apprendistato nella bottega paterna e nel 1655 è documentata la sua presenza nella gilda di Anversa. Nel 1659 si trasferisce a Roma, dove compare iscritto nell’Accademia di San Luca.
