During an invasion of rogue Skrulls on an alien hospital in the core of a black hole, his mother went into labor as she was protecting the other hospital patients. While barricaded inside a delivery room without medication, Jessica gave birth to her son Gerald. Upon saying hello and seeing to his immediate well-being, she got off the table, killed every insurgent Skrull before her, and passed out from the pain as Carol Danvers arrived a moment after the carnage ended. A few days later, Jessica moved back to her apartment with Gerry, who immediately drove her mad with his crying and sleeplessness. After Jessica's friends took her on a night out to decompress, babysitter Roger Gocking's attention helped relax him.
After Jessica and Roger's confrontation with Hobgoblin, Gerry's powers manifested as he crawled out of the apartment via the window to the Avengers' roof party, demonstrating his capabilities. As Jess was in San Francisco for work, Gerry trashed the apartment before Kaine arrived requesting Jessica's aid. As Gerry played with Roger, he saw Jess leave to fight the Inheritors for his sake and was happy at Jess' return.
After Jess returned from a mission with Strikeforce, Gerry had devastated the apartment by the time she had return and dirtied his way through every diaper in their inventory. After Jess took a job for a new client, later revealed to be his uncle Michael, Roger took Gerry to a farm upstate after Jessica's radiation immunity was erased, posing a health risk to both their safeties. In a video call with Roger, Gerry voiced missing his mom as she continued her quest to cure her condition. After Roger broke up with Jessica for neglecting their relationship, Lindsay McCabe started looking after Gerry whenever Jessica was busy.
When Jessica was briefly severed from the Web of Life and ceased to exist, not only did memories of her get erased but memories of Gerry ceased to exist as well, with Roger, who was babysitting him at the time, forgetting who Gerry was and left him alone at Jessica's apartment. However, Gerry's status was picked up by Hydra agents, who kidnapped him as part of their program to raise child soldiers with potential gifts whose families had supposedly abandoned. Gerry was rapidly aged into adulthood by being repeatedly placed in an age-acceleration chamber and brainwashed into being one of Hydra's best agents. Jessica was revived while Gerry was undergoing his brainwashing, unlike other child soldiers who had their memories erased, Gerry had his left intact to fuel his hatred towards Jessica, whom he already resented for supposedly prioritizing her superhero career over him and blamed for abandoning him. Although Jessica's return would have restored other people's memories of Gerry, Hydra used their technical and magical resources to keep his existence suppressed from everyone except Jessica.
During the Gang War, Hydra backed Diamondback's campaign to take over New York's criminal underworld and Gerry volunteered to represent Hydra to get revenge on Jessica, who was dismantling Diamondback's operations, taking the codemae Green Mamba. Having deduced that Hydra was involved with Gerry's disappearance, Jessica confronted Diamondback at his nightclub where Green Mamba fought her; Jessica failed to recognize Gerry. Jessica attacked one of Hydra's bases in Battery Park and attempted to stop Diamondback, Green Mamba and Viper from escaping by helicopter; Green Mamba shot her with a Venom Blast while Viper gloated that she would never see her son again. While Diamondback inquired Viper about Jessica's missing son, Madame Web confirmed Gerry's existence within the Web of Life to Jessica but an unseen force was obscuring his presence. Jessica tracked them down to Diamondback's lab at the city's docks and fought him and Green Mamba again. Jessica believed that Green Mamba was a Hydra foot soldier that was given powers harvested from Gerry's DNA, however Diamondback revealed Green Mamba's identity to her while Gerry unmasked himself.
Gerry revealed the circumstances surrounding his accelerated aging and allegiance to Hydra while blaming his mother for his predicament, who repeatedly tried to convince Gerry he had been brainwashed. Gerry also revealed that Hydra was only using Diamondback and that the Gang War meant nothing to Viper, who was only entertaining herself to make Jessica's life worse. This angered Diamondback, which instigated into a three way fight between them. Diamondback was subdued but Gerry was severely injured. Gerry refused help from Jessica and allowed himself to fall into the Hudson River to escape from her. Jessica was prevented from rescuing him by Captain Marvel, who wasn't aware of Green Mamba's identity. Jessica didn't tell her or Madame Web what happened, but vowed to make Hydra pay for what they did to her and Gerry.
As a toddler, Gerry was shown to be energized and enthusiastic, but also unaware of his destructive potential as a superhuman baby. His playfulness coupled with his already active Spider powers make him a drain on his mother's mental health, but becomes obedient and calm as Roger babysits him.
As an adult and fueled by Hydra's brainwashing, Gerry is shown to be ruthless and sadistic, even taking pleasure in hurting his mother, whom he blamed for supposedly abandoning him.
Powers
•Spider Physiology: Gerry has inherited several spider-like superhuman powers and abilities from his mother, Jessica Drew. So far, his powers include: •Wall Crawling: Gerry was immediately able to find himself on the ceiling upon getting his powers, his wall crawling strong enough to enable him to crawl around on his walls, the outside of his apartment building, and straight up a pole outside. •Superhuman Strength: Gerry showed enough strength to shove himself out of Carol Danvers' grip, bruise Black Widow with a kick to the face, effortlessly support his own body weight, and tear up a room as a young toddler. •Superhuman Speed: Gerry is apparently fast and slippery enough to bounce around a room faster than Roger was able to move, making him impossible to catch. •Superhuman Durability: Gerry has shown to be durable enough to handle dropping from a height of over a dozen feet into a bowl of chips without sustaining injury. •Superhuman Agility: Gerry, as a toddler, upon getting his powers, was agile enough to stand up and bounce around Jessica's living room and evade Roger with ease. •Superhuman Reflexes: Gerry's natural reaction time and reflexes are enhanced to levels beyond the human body's natural limits. •Regenerative Healing Factor: Gerry possesses a regenerative healing factor that enables him to rapidly heal himself at an accelerated rate. •Pheromone Secretion: Like his mother, Gerry's metabolism generates certain types of pheromones that can create fear, elicit attraction and/or repulsion on others. But due to his age, He has very little control over this ability. •Venom Blasts: Gerry's body apparently possesses an inordinate amount of bio-electricity that he can instinctively channel and discharge through his hands, just like his mother can. So far, they are only strong enough to destroy objects and mildly electrocute people.
