After the success of his 2020 album everything means nothing and its huge single “hot girl bummer,” genre-defying Florida singer-songwriter blackbear returns with misery lake, an EP about the very relatable feeling of isolation written near the end of quarantine.
On July 14, 2021, Blackbear announced the tracklist to his EP Misery Lake, alongside a tweet that the EP would be delayed to August 13, 2021, as a result of Sony Music Entertainment acquiring Alamo Records.
