This group sounds lively and upbeat, as does Armstrong, who interacts with the audience throughout this concert.

Young performed with Louis Armstrong and his All Stars for the ninth Cavalcade of Jazz concert held at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles. The concert was produced by Leon Hefflin, Sr. on June 7, 1953. Trummy Young was a good foil for the trumpeter (such as their version of "St. Louis Blues" on Armstrong's W.C. Handy tribute album).
Recorded 1962 live in Geneve, Switzerland. There is a CD, Louis Armstrong - Olympia, Apr. 24th, 1962, with exactly the same tracklist and durations.

30 giu 2023 · Trummy Young was a consistent attraction with the Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra during his five years. He took many fluent trombone solos with the band and co-wrote both “ Tain’t What You Do It’s The Way That You Do It ” (singing on the original recording) and “Easy Does It,” both with Sy Oliver.
