Evelyn Emily Mary Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, DStJ, GCVO, JP (née Fitzmaurice; 27 August 1870 – 2 April 1960), was the wife of Victor Cavendish, 9th Duke of Devonshire. She was the elder daughter of politician and diplomat Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, 5th Marquess of Lansdowne, and grew up amidst public life.
She founded the Derbyshire branch of the Red Cross and was Mistress of the Robes to Queen Mary. Evelyn Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, was born Lady Evelyn Fitzmaurice in 1870 to Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, the 5 th Marquess of Lansdowne, and his wife Maud Evelyn Petty-Fitzmaurice (nee Hamilton).

Il 30 luglio del 1892 egli sposò Lady Evelyn FitzMaurice, figlia primogenita di Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, V marchese di Lansdowne, che fino a cinque anni prima aveva prestato servizio come Governatore Generale del Canada.

Lady Evelyn Fitzmaurice was the elder daughter of Henry, 5 th Marquess of Lansdowne and his wife Lady Maud Hamilton, daughter of the 1 st Duke of Abercorn. Between 1883 and 1888 her father served as Governor General of Canada, before being appointed Viceroy of India, a position he held until 1894.
