Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute (OSCVI), located in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada, was one of the oldest schools in Canada having been founded in 1856 and in the late 1880s and early 1890s was the most academically successful school in Ontario.

OSDSS is the result of an amalgamation of Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute and West Hill Secondary School. We are in Owen Sound on Georgian Bay and located in the beautiful Niagara Escarpment.

As one of the few avenues for students in Ontario’s Grey and Bruce Counties interested in post-secondary studies, OSCVI can claim famous alumni like Norman Bethune, Agnes Macphail, and Billy Bishop.
This thesis examines the adolescent and wartime experiences of the Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute Second World War dead and how they were commemorated after the war.
Over one thousand former students of the Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute (OSCVI) performed duties with the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and Merchant Navy.
