Although Mercer and the band have put out several albums over the past few years, "Digital Duke" is the finest album the Duke Ellington Orchestra has recorded since the death of the man himself. Jim Trageser's review of Digital Duke, by the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
Digital Duke. 1987 CD GRP / GRD 9548. grandwazir Jan 31 2007. Not as bad as has been espoused. No, Duke Ellington is not on the album. But it IS the Duke Ellington Orchestra, conducted by son Mercer Ellington and the arrangements are spirited and definitely evoke the sound of Duke.
