11 nov 2022 · Jean II de Croÿ was a prominent member of the Burgundian court. He governed Hainaut andNamur in the name of the dukes of Burgandy as grand bailli de Hainaut . His dominions were centered on the town of Chimay, of which he became the first count.

Jacques III de Croÿ-Sempy (1508-1587) era il bisnipote di Jean II e il nipote di Charles de Chimay. Fu attraverso sua madre, Louise di Lussemburgo che succedette nel feudo di Fontaine-l'Évêque nel 1529, ottenendo in seguito molte terre come dote da suoi tre matrimoni.

The only line of the House of Croÿ existing today, that of Croÿ-Solre, descends from Antoine le Grand's younger brother, Jean II de Croÿ (1395–1473), who governed Hainaut and Namur in the name of the Dukes of Burgundy.
