Emerson Alister Barrett is the drummer for indie fashion-art rock group Palaye Royale, which was originally formed in 2008 with his brothers, Sebastian Danzig and Remington Leith, under the name Kropp Circle. They rebranded to Palaye Royale in the summer of 2011.
Emerson was born November 22, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada. His first vinyl was Get Born by Australian rock band Jet. This band would later inspire Emerson to become a drummer and form a rock band with his brothers after seeing them live in concert.
He never finished middle school as, like the rest of his brothers, he dropped out in order to pursue music full-time.
He creates art outside of his music, and has an online store featuring a short film as well as various pieces featuring prints of his art, sketchbooks, and more. A lot of the Palaye Royale merch designs are by him as well.
Emerson also is deeply into philosophy, architecture design, and is a major fan of Alan Watts. He is of the opinion that people should educate themselves; i.e. if you're interested in something you should learn about it yourself, not blindly be taught about it by someone else's opinions.
"In death we trust. Love the void.", is a quote he puts in much of his art and other things.
He published a graphic novel to accompany their newest album. While the album and novel go hand in hand, the story can also be read as a stand alone piece. In an interview with AltPress, he states that it has completely taken over his life for the last seven years. He is currently working on a second graphic novel. The graphic novels are a creative collaboration with fan and talented illustrator, XOBillie, who he referred to as his penpal.
