Born and raised in Iceland, Bragi (Bri) Olafsson studied music from an early age. He graduated from Iceland’s most prestigious jazz school, FIH, and obtained a degree in guitar performance. Soon after moving to the UK for further studies, he was introduced to Bluegrass Music, which quickly became his focus.
Bragi Ólafsson (born 11 August 1962 in Reykjavík, Iceland) is an Icelandic musician and a writer. Internationally he is best known for his work as a bassist in The Sugarcubes, the avant-garde pop band from Iceland that brought fame to Björk, who went on to solo success with her unique brand of diverse musical genres.

8 set 2008 · Bragi Ólafsson was born in Reykjavik, and may be most well known for playing bass in The Sugarcubes, Björk’s first band. After recording three albums and touring the world, he quit making music and turned to writing.
Bragi Ólafsson is the author of several books of poetry and short stories, and four novels, including Time Off, which was nominated for the Icelandic Literature Prize in 1999 (as was The Pets), and Party Games, for which Bragi received the DV Cultural Prize in 2004.
