Yefrosinya [a] Andreyevna Staritskaya ( Russian: Ефросинья Андреевна Старицкая; née Khovanskaya; 1516 – 20 October 1569) was a Russian noblewoman. She was married to Andrey of Staritsa, the younger brother of Vasili III and an uncle of Ivan IV .
Yefrosinya Staritskaya. Vladimir Andreyevich ( Russian: Владимир Андреевич; 9 July 1535 – 9 October 1569) [1] was the last appanage Russian prince. [2] His complicated relationship with his cousin, Ivan the Terrible, was dramatized in Sergei Eisenstein 's 1944 film Ivan the Terrible .
The Gediminid knyaginya ( duchess) Yefrosinya Staritskaya founded the Goritsky convent in 1544, about a decade after her marriage to one of Tsar Ivan the Great 's sons (who died imprisoned after a succession rebellion in his name), and two years after the marriage of her only son, Vladimir of Staritsa.
