Infanta Philippa of Coimbra (1437–1497) was the youngest child of Infante Peter, Duke of Coimbra, and Isabella of Aragon, Countess of Urgell. She became a nun in the Convent of Odivelas where she died in 1497.
On 6 April 1385, the Council of the Kingdom (the Portuguese Cortes) met in Coimbra and declared John, then Master of Aviz, to be king of Portugal. This was followed by the liberation of almost all of the Minho in the course of two months as part of a war against Castile in opposition to its claims to the Portuguese throne.
Philippa of Coimbra was the youngest child of Peter, Duke of Coimbra and Isabella, Duchess of Coimbra, making her a granddaughter of John I, King of Portugal. She became a nun and died at the Convent of Odivelas in 1497.
It is quite significant that Pedro should prefer to refer to his mother Philippa instead of his recently deceased sister-in-law Leonor, who had given him such trouble during their co-regency and the ensuing period.
