He is known for his roles as Kurt Mendel in Odyssey 5 , Jerry Jacks in General Hospital , Thomas Jerome Newton in Fringe , Balthazar in Supernatural , Mikael in both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals , and Reichsminister Martin Heusmann in The Man in the High Castle .
