Joyride is effectively one of three albums by Brotherhood, a group formed by Phil Volk, Drake Levin and Mike "Smitty" Smith after they left Paul Revere & the Raiders in 1967. As with the group's other albums, it was recorded for RCA Victor, but was released under the nom de plume Friendsound.

His mother kept the recording, which Volk loved listening to as a child. Volk later used it in one of the cuts on the Friendsound Joyride album called, "Child Song". Volk took dance lessons and gymnastics. At the age of 13, Volk watched Elvis Presley on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Upon leaving Paul Revere & The Raiders, Drake Levin, Phil Volk & Michael Smith formed Brotherhood who released two albums for RCA. In between those two releases, the trio teamed up with a few session musicians as Friend Sound, releasing "Joyride" A wild batch of instrumental psychedelia -- with plenty of avant garde touches thrown in!
21 mar 2013 · In 1967, Drake Levin, Phil Volk, and Mike Smith (all former members of Paul Revere & the Raiders) formed a band called Brotherhood. They released two LPs in '68 and '69. Sometime during this period, they were also allowed to record this musical "joyride" with a bunch of friends and outside musicians.
