Initially unsuccessful in the United States, the album was remixed by Capitol Records to better match American radio at the time; the remixed album spent 129 weeks on the Billboard chart, reaching number six.
8 ago 2022 · The team ultimately remixed all five songs on Rio ’s first side, with three of those reworked tracks—“Hungry Like The Wolf,” “My Own Way” and “Hold Back The Rain”—landing on a four-song EP, Carnival, released in September 1982, before the remixed Rio album and “Wolf” single bowed three months later in December.
Rhodes and Cuccurullo wrote and recorded a song called "Tomorrow Never Dies" with vocalist Tessa Niles for the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies. The song wasn't chosen, so Duran Duran re-recorded it for the Pop Trash album with new lyrics under the title "Last Day on Earth".
