Thomas Lincoln Sr. (January 6, 1778 – January 17, 1851) was an American farmer, carpenter, and father of the 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Unlike some of his ancestors, Thomas could not write.

Thomas Lincoln, according to a fellow family member, “was one of the best men that ever lived. A sturdy, honest, God fearing man whom all the neighbors respected.” He was described as good-humored, patient, kind, and “loving everybody and everything.”
It is time to take a fresh look at Thomas and reconsider those judgments and that wisdom. There have been a few historians who differed with the conventional wisdom. In 1942, Louis A. Warren wrote a critique clearly describing what he thought was the unfair demonization of Thomas Lincoln.
July 15 - Thomas (Tad) Lincoln died in Chicago, probably of pneumonia. He was 18 years old. September 19 - Abraham Lincoln's body was moved to a crypt in the partially completed tomb.
Thomas Lincoln III (Springfield, 4 aprile 1853 – Chicago, 15 luglio 1871), soprannominato Tad, è stato il quarto e ultimo figlio di Abraham e Mary Todd Lincoln. Il soprannome "Tad" gli fu dato da suo padre che, da piccolo, lo trovava "sinuoso come un girino" (in inglese : as wiggly as a tadpole ).
