Royal West Academy (commonly referred to as Royal West or RWA; French: Académie Royal West) is a public alternative anglophone secondary school in Montreal West, Quebec. Royal West has limited enrollment, and prospective students are only admitted after an entrance examination and interview.

Royal West Academy is one of the most prestigious public high schools in Montreal, with a long and noteworthy history behind it. It’s only fitting that, on the 70th anniversary of the school, we take a look back at some of this history.
Applications for admissions for 2025-2026. Qualifying exams will be held on Saturday, September 28 (last names A-L) and Sunday, September 29 (last names M-Z), from 8:30AM – 12:00PM. If you have any questions regarding applications, please send them to RWAAdmissions@emsb.qc.ca.
Royal West Academy’s French program offers both immersion and French mother tongue courses. Over 90 percent of RWA students graduate with a Bilingual Certificate. While provision is made for students with varying elementary school backgrounds, parents should note that there is no “English stream”.
