It was 1987 when they finally settled for Carl DeMola (Griffin) and this would be the lineup best known to most. The Icemen would perform live shows through the next five years, often at CBGB, their "Home Base". In 1991, the Icemen released the R.I.P. EP on Blackout Records.

Miret left the band for four months between the recording and release of Cause for Alarm, and was replaced by Carl Demola. With yet another new lineup, the band soon released Liberty and Justice For... in 1987. The album featured stripped down punk with a lack of thrash influences, yet it contained many metal-style guitar solos.
