Carl Robert Mannerheim was a Finnish aristocrat, businessman and writer. He was the father of Marshal Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim and a resister of the Russification of Finland.

His father, Count Carl Robert Mannerheim, was an industrialist and businessman. Unfavourable economic trends, gambling and socialising forced him into bankruptcy and the family was forced to sell their manor house. Father deserted his wife and children, travelling instead to France and the USA.

12 mar 2017 · During World War One, Mannerheim was in command of a brigade and later on he commanded the 12th Cavalry Division during the battle of the Russian army against Austria. In 1914, Mannerheim was awarded the Order of Saint George, the highest Russian military decoration.
