  5. 16 dic 2020 · December 16, 2020. Turns out, almost a century ago, a special group of men was spitting verses about Noah’s Ark, Ezekiel’s wheel, and every other juicy anecdote in the Bible. These days, we call it “Gospel rap,” and hail it as a genre pioneered by a 1930s US gospel group, “The Jubalaires,” who paved the way for 1990s hip hop and rap.

  7. The Jubalaries were a Christian gospel group that sang primarily in the 1940's and in the 1950's. The members were Ted Brooks, Caleb Ginyard, Orville Brooks, George McFadden, and eventually Willie Johnson. Willie Johnson was originally a member from the Golden Gate Quartet.
