Her first loyalty is to the "saint" Mahatma Gandhi, and the boy, Sriam, soon finds himself amidst the most faithful of Gandhi's disciples and involved in the Quit India campaign.
Sriram is attracted to a girl named Bharati who is active in Mahatma Gandhi's Quit India movement. So consequently inclined by his love's route he commits himself to Gandhi's Quit India campaign, a decision that will test the integrity of his ideals against the strength of his passions.
Waiting for Mahatma centers on a young man named Sriram who lives with his grandmother. He is in love with and wants to marry a young woman who is involved with Mahatma Gandhi's movement to achieve Indian independence and this draws him into becoming active himself.
