Originally from Los Angeles—"to make a long story short," he says—Ruffin met Charlie Redd of the Full Flava Kings while playing in cover bands in Austin in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s.

In 2011 the band were joined by Tom "Tom-Bone" Ralls on trombone and Tori Ruffin briefly returning a substitute for George. After touring the band were joined by Jay Armant as full time trombonist.
