After Dead Kennedys broke up in 1986, Flouride concentrated on his solo career, releasing Because I Say So in 1988 and The Light Is Flickering in 1991, the latter album including the song "Dancing with Shauna Grant".
Dopo lo scioglimento, Flouride ritornò alla sua carriera solista, pubblicando Because I Say So nel 1988 e The Light Is Flickering nel 1991, caratterizzati da uno stile molto distante dall'hardcore dei Dead Kennedys [5]. Inoltre in quel periodo suonò con The Nimrods, The Muskrats, The Five Year Plan e Jumbo Shrimp [2] .
