The 1960 Summer Olympics (Italian: Giochi Olimpici estivi del 1960), officially known as the Games of the XVII Olympiad (Italian: Giochi della XVII Olimpiade) and commonly known as Rome 1960 (Italian: Roma 1960), were an international multi-sport event held from 25 August to 11 September 1960 in Rome, Italy.
I Giochi della XVII Olimpiade, noti anche come Roma 1960, si sono svolti a Roma, in Italia, dal 25 agosto all'11 settembre 1960 . Roma si era già aggiudicata l'organizzazione dei Giochi Olimpici del 1908, ma a seguito dell' eruzione del Vesuvio del 1906 rinunciò a tale evento, cedendo l'onore dell'organizzazione alla città di Londra .
