Production [ edit] The album was produced by Davis and Rick Eckstein, and executive produced by Jackson Browne; additional sessions and remixing occurred at Browne's home studio. [7] [8] While mostly employing spoken word, Trudell also added his background vocals to a few tracks. [9]

28 mag 1992 · Listing Jackson Browne as executive producer, AKA Grafitti Man is a compilation of Trudell’s previously released cassette-only collaborations with the late guitarist Jesse Ed Davis and Mark Shark (a mean guitar slinger himself), first issued on Trudell’s own label during the Eighties.
Together, Trudell and Davis started gigging and recording as The Graffiti Band, and this partnership produced its first album titled AKA GRAFITTI MAN, in 1986. It was released on Trudell’s own Peace Company label in a cassette-only format, and sold through mail-order and at the band’s shows.

Released on cassette in 1986, it was dubbed "the best album" of that year by none other than Bob Dylan. AKA Grafitti Man served early notice of Trudell's singular ability to express fundamental truths through a unique mix of poetry, Native instrumentation and unfettered blues and rock.
