  2. The Ecole des Beaux-Arts at Fontainebleau (or School of Fine Arts) was founded in 1923 and adopted the same mission as the music conservatory in the spheres of painting, architecture, and sculpture.

  3. The music program is for advanced students ages 18-30, but particularly those currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate music school programs. The program includes performing opportunities including recitals and concerts.

  4. The conservatory was created during World War I when the US sought to build a music school to improve the U.S. military bands, headquartered in France. After the war, Damrosch and Casadesus decided to continue this successful operation.

  5. The annual Fontainebleau Schools concert at the FEU on July 30 will be replaced by the publication of “Bridge Between Worlds”, a musical portrait of Betsy Jolas, followed by the world premiere of Still by Austin Simmonds (Ravel Composition Prize 2019), a piece commissioned by the Fontainebleau Schoolsand the Maurice Ravel Foundation.
