The Prime Movers were a rock band from the Sierra Madre, California area known for its post-punk ethereal sound and lyrics evocative of the New West.
Underground 80's Los Angeles post punk band known for their hits On The Trail and Strong As I Am. They later morphed into the original Dread Zeppelin.
The Prime Movers recorded the raw and unpolished ‘Sins of the Fourfathers’ as a three piece, and were soon joined by Fay Hallam (ex Makin’ Time) on organ. The Prime Movers scored two Top Forty hits in England with the songs, “On The Trail” and “Dark Western Night.” Another song, “Strong As I Am,” was selected by film-maker Michael Mann to be the featured song in his movie, “Manhunter” (the prequel to “Silence Of The Lambs”).
Formed in 1983 in Sierra Madre, California, The Prime Movers - Gary Putman on guitar and vocals, Severs Ramsey on vocals and bass and Curt Lichter on drums - adapted their name from a favorite episode of the science fiction TV series, The Twilight Zone.
