Hans Cranach (ca. 1513–1537), also known as Johann Lucas Cranach, was a German painter, the oldest son of Lucas Cranach the Elder. German art historian Johann Christian Schuchardt, who discovered his existence, credits him with an altar-piece at Weimar, signed with the monogram "H. C.", and dated 1537. He died at Bologna in 1537.

Portrait of a bearded Man and Hercules at the Court of Omphale (both Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid) have the monogram “HC” and are his only two signed works. In addition, a number of drawings intended for book illustrations have been attributed to the artist.

Hans Cranach here depicts an episode from the life of Hercules, who according to Greek legend murdered his friend Iphitus in a struggle for power and who was thus punished by Hermes, who sold him to the court of Queen Omphale where he had to remain as a slave for three years.
His early paintings are difficult to distinguish from those of his father, whose polished style he perpetuated, and those of his elder brother, Hans Cranach (c. 1513-37). His woodcuts consist mainly of portraits and of religious subjects of a Protestant nature.
