(A.D. 626) Fatima bint Asad, the widow of Abu Talib and the mother of Ali, died in Medina. She had reared Muhammad, the future Prophet, as her own son, and he called her his mother. She was the second lady in Arabia to accept Islam, the first being Khadija, the wife of the Prophet.
Fatima bint Asad was a most remarkable lady who followed the religion of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S). She believed in Allah and acted according to all the previous Prophets instructions. She believed and acted upon all the Books of Allah which has been revealed till then (before Islam ).
The lofty character of Fatima Bint Asad (a) is known analytically and comprehensively for two reasons: a. She was an exemplary woman in early Islam and a shining example of faith, struggle in the way of God, and insight and forbearance in the ideological, political, and social arenas. b.
Fatima bt. Asad was from the Hashemite family. Her lineage was recorded by biographers as Fatima bt. Asad b. Hashim b. Abd Manaf [1]. She was raised in Mecca and married to Abu Talib. After the emergence of Islam, she migrated to Medina, where she passed away. She is said to be the first Hashemite woman with a Hashemite husband.
Her name is Fatimah رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهَا. Her father’s name is Asad Bin Hashim Bin Abd Manaaf, and her mother’s name is Fatimah Bint Harim Bin Rawahah.
