In a sketch called "Sonny's Pizza Parlor", Joe Namath comes to the pizzeria and makes a big impression on Sonny and Rosa (Cher). Sonny and Cher perform "It Never Rains In Southern California". Joe joins Sonny and Cher in a musical finale showing the ways to a girl's heart.
With Cher as his wife Edith, Sonny as his son-in-law Mike, regular Teri Garr as his daughter Gloria, and Harvey Korman playing both priest and rabbi. Carroll O'Connor appears as the CBS censor, sent by the network to clean up the show.
By the end of 1973, The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour was a consistent top-ten winner featuring regulars Terri Garr, Freeman King, Billy Van, Murray Langston (later the ‘Unknown Comic’), and Chastity Bono, the couple’s toddler. The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour utilised several recurring comedy sketches.
