In 1976, Garfunkel recorded both background and duet vocals for several artists, including Stephen Bishop's Careless album, James Taylor's In The Pocket album and J. D. Souther's Black Rose album. From December 1976 to September 1977, Garfunkel worked on his next album.
Watermark is the third solo studio album by Art Garfunkel, released in October 1977 on Columbia Records.
It includes two hit singles: "On and On", which peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard singles chart, [4] and "Save It for a Rainy Day" which made No. 22. The album itself rose to No. 34 on the Billboard albums chart. [5] Notable contributors to the album include Eric Clapton, Art Garfunkel and Chaka Khan .
