The album is compiled and produced by T Bone Burnett, Matthias Gohl and Elliot Goldenthal. Goldenthal who previously worked on Taymor's Titus (1999) and Frida (2002), had composed the film's original score, which is also included in the album.
Elliot Goldenthal is an Academy Award-winning composer best known for his original music scores for such films as Frida (2002) and Across the Universe (2007), among his other works. He was born on May 2, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York.

Composer ELLIOT GOLDENTHAL creates works for orchestra, theater, opera, ballet and film. In 2006, his original two-act opera Grendel, directed by Julie Taymor, premiered at the Los Angeles Opera and had its east coast debut as the centerpiece of the Lincoln Center Festival in New York.
