Nato e cresciuto a Shanghai, Cina, Hu Ge è figlio unico. Ha studiato recitazione alla Shanghai Theater Academye si è diplomato a luglio del 2005. Come molti altri artisti, ha iniziato ad apparire sugli schermi televisivi ben prima del diploma.
