Götz Karl August George (* 23. Juli 1938 in Berlin; † 19. Juni 2016 in Hamburg) war ein deutscher Schauspieler. Er war über mehr als fünf Jahrzehnte vor allem im deutschsprachigen Raum durch seine Rollen in Film und Fernsehen bekannt und auch an verschiedenen Theaterbühnen etabliert.

Götz George, born in Berlin in 1938, is the son of the famous actor Heinrich George and his wife, the actress Berta Drews. After first appearances on the stage of Berlin's Hebbel Theater during his childhood, Götz George was trained as an actor by the recognized teacher Else Bongers.
Horst Schimanski is a fictional homicide detective with a leading role in the German crime television series Tatort, as well as the spin-off Schimanski. [1] . Portrayed by Götz George, the character made his debut in the 1981 episode "Duisburg-Ruhrort" [de] and appeared in 29 episodes until 1991. [2] .
